From Paris to Berlin....

Hello everyone! There was no class this week from Wednesday on so the girls and myself decided to take a little vacation from our busy schedules to Berlin, Germany. We figured that this was going to be an adventure of a lifetime considering none of us know German. We can all speak French well and as we found out there are so many things like "where is the bathroom" that we did not even know how to say, which made for very good signing!

We left Thursday morning for Paris to catch our flight. It was only about an hour and a half plane ride so we were in Berlin just in time for the night life.

Paris for the day!

Since nobody was going to the eight hour French cram session we all decided why not go to Paris for the night, well Saturday morning to Sunday morning. We bought these student cards called "12-25", meaning for students from ages twelve to twenty five. It is basically a huge discount card! We went to Paris for nine euros each way, when normally it is around 19 each way! So just by using this card four times we get our money back.

First week of school!!!

My first week of school was very interesting! The process for adding and dropping classes is impossible so week one you go to your "classes" then the next week when you change things (you cant change your schedule until the Friday before classes at the earliest and all the first week, but you cant go unless you already have it) you go to your new classes so you missed the first sessions.

Etretat

Sunday January 13 our school had a little adventure to a place called Etretat on the north coast of Normandie. Our school has these trips a couple times a month, they are not mandatory but everyone goes, and if you do not sign up right away they will run out of room. The day started out very rough!

Getting Settled In!

It has been a week so far and it feels like I have known all the people I have met for months! We are all having so much fun together, exploring the city, venturing to new clubs, trying different euro wines. The girls and myself are planning for our Germany trip!! We have a 5 day weekend break in a couple of weeks and Germany was on the list. We are all a little nervous considering none of us speak a word of German.

Je suis ici

Where to begin!! Well first of all I was on a plane forever!!! From Minneapolis to Iceland was about 5 hours I think and then from Iceland to Paris was 3 more hours... I met a French couple on the plane from Minneapolis to Iceland and they said they would help me get to the train station and buy a ticket to Rouen (which was a bigger process than I thought).
